Below is from Askart
Jean Guay (c.a. early 1930's to 2005)
He was born in Montreal, Canada and settled in Southern California in 1959. From 1959 to 1977 he hiked and backpacked the Sierra logging 6,700 miles while photographing and sketching in these mountains. This was done to prepare for painting in oil as his primary medium. His move to Incline Village, Lake Tahoe, Nevada in 1977 provided a secure location for him to paint a variety of Lake Tahoe and Sierra scenes. His local gallery "Art Attack" sold his works at Incline Village. When he died, this gallery prepared his works for an estate auction in Sparks, Nevada at Lightning Auctions March 4, 2006.
